About Karen Harley

For as long as I can remember I have had a deep interest in plants and began growing vegetables and herbs at a young age. Since then I have made my own tinctures, teas and lotions for personal use. During my studies in Medical Herbalism at the Southern Institute of Medical Herbalism (SIMH) I developed a deeper understanding of the relationship between herbs and the individual. I really love the process of connecting medicine to the person and formulating individual remedies.

The majority of the herbs I use in my practice I have either grown on my property here in Nelson or foraged in the Nelson and Tasman regions. I am careful about how much I take and where I source plants from and grow my herbs using organic principles, so as to produce healthy, robust medicine. Occasionally I may need to source herbs from a supplier or other herbalist but the intention is to always find the best quality possible.

I love living in Nelson and enjoy walking and tramping and being out in our beautiful native forests.
